Brain Teasers & Word Puzzles
A brain teaser is a small problem with a twist: a rule nobody tells you, a clever move that changes everything, or a word hiding in plain sight.
These four Barumba games take a couple of minutes each. Rulebreak and Foxtrap are about patterns and tactics, while Letter Hunt and Orbit Letters are all about letters. None of them asks what you happen to know. The fun is the moment it clicks and you see what the puzzle wanted all along.
How the daily works here
Each PT day sets the secret rules, the fox's boards and the letter grids for everyone at once. That keeps the board fair: if a friend found more words than you, they had the very same letters. Your best ranked try counts, and Free Play lets you go again for fun.
The games
- Rulebreak
Brain teasersLogic
A few example shapes follow a rule nobody explains. Some fit it and some don't. Study them, form a theory, then sort the mystery shapes into the right pile. It's three rounds against a seventy-five second clock, and a wrong call is handy too, because it shows which part of your theory was off.
- Foxtrap
Brain teasersLogicSpatial
A fox sits on the board looking for the edge. You get up to three fences per board, and after each one the fox takes a step along its shortest way out, which the game shows you. Close every route before it gets there. There are three boards, each bigger than the last, and spare fences add to your score.
- Letter Hunt
Brain teasersWord
Ten words hide in one grid of letters, running across, down or diagonally, forwards or backwards. Drag from the first letter to the last to claim each one before the clock runs out. A handy habit: look for the rare letters first, because they narrow the search fast.
- Orbit Letters
Brain teasersWord
Seven letters ring a single centre letter. Drag from letter to letter to spell words of three or more, and every word has to use that centre letter. Each letter goes in once per word. Longer finds are worth more, and a word that uses all eight letters earns a bonus.
Pick one if…
- You love spotting patterns: Rulebreak.
- You like a tactical puzzle with a moving opponent: Foxtrap.
- Words are your thing: Letter Hunt for a search, Orbit Letters for spelling.
Brain Teasers & Word Puzzles FAQ
What counts as a brain teaser here?
A puzzle with a trick you figure out on the spot, like a hidden rule or the right place for a fence, rather than a quiz about general knowledge.
Is there a word games page?
Not yet. Word games live here for now, and they get a page of their own once Barumba has three of them.
Can I replay yesterday's puzzle?
No. Each day's boards close at midnight PT, when new ones start for everyone. Free Play lets you replay today's puzzle as often as you like, unranked.
