Merge & Match Games

Merge and match games run on two very satisfying loops. Merging puts two alike things together to make something bigger. Matching gathers a set and clears it off the board. Both are easy to pick up, which makes this the friendliest corner of Barumba to just start playing.

Cat Merge is the laid-back one: a run lasts until the box overflows, with no countdown. The other five run on a short clock, so they reward quick eyes as much as a good plan.

How the daily works here

The PT date decides the drop order, the tile layout and the deal, so everybody faces the same pile, the same stack and the same rings. Your best ranked try lands on that game's daily board. Once your ranked tries are used, Free Play keeps the same board open for as many extra rounds as you like.

The games

  • Cat Merge

    Merge & matchSpatial

Aim, drop a cat into the cardboard box, and when two matching cats touch they become the next cat up. Climb from Tiny Kitten toward the Lion King and fill your Catdex on the way. Keep resting cats below the dashed line, and save Swat, Shake and Swap for emergencies.

  • Grove Merge

    Merge & matchSpatial

Fruit falls into a bowl wherever you aim it, and two of the same fruit roll together into the next size. Plan where the big ones will settle, because a pile that spills over the rim ends the run. You have ninety seconds to score as much as you can.

  • Tile Rest

    Merge & matchMemorySpatial

A layered stack of picture tiles waits on the table. Tap two free tiles with the same picture to lift them off; a tile is free when nothing covers it and one side is open. Dig out the buried ones early and more pairs open up before the clock runs down.

  • Tray Triple

    Merge & matchSpatial

Tap chips that nothing covers and they slide into a tray that holds seven. Three matching stamps vanish together. The catch is the tray itself: fill all seven with odd ones out and the run is over, so keep an eye on what is already waiting there.

  • Ringlink

    Merge & matchSpatialSpeed

A board of coloured rings, each with its own inner mark. Drag through touching rings of one colour to link them, and longer links score far more: five rings are worth ten times as much as two. Bring the link back round to close a loop and every ring of that colour clears.

  • Piece Nest

    Merge & matchSpatial

Each deal hands you three pieces to fit into the nest. Turn a piece with a tap, drop it in, and any full row or column clears away. Place all three to get the next deal, and keep room for the awkward shapes before the timer ends.

Pick one if…

  • You want an easy-going break with no countdown: Cat Merge.
  • You like a race against the clock: Ringlink or Tile Rest.
  • You enjoy packing things into tight spaces: Piece Nest or Tray Triple.

Merge & Match Games FAQ

What's the difference between merge and match?

Merging joins two alike items into one bigger item, as in Cat Merge and Grove Merge. Matching collects a set, a link or a full row and clears it, as in Tile Rest, Tray Triple, Ringlink and Piece Nest.

Which ones have no timer?

Cat Merge has no countdown: a run ends when the box overflows, or after ten minutes. Grove Merge, Tile Rest, Tray Triple, Ringlink and Piece Nest all run on a short clock.

Are the drops random?

They are set by the day, not by the luck of your run. Everyone who plays on the same PT day gets the same drops, layout and deal. In Cat Merge, a Shake or a Swap can change what comes next.
