Number Puzzles
Number puzzles use arithmetic as the rules of the game. Totals, sums and doubles decide which moves are allowed, and the challenge is spotting the right combination quickly.
You won't need any school maths beyond adding and doubling. Barumba has three of these, and each plays differently: Tally Tiles is a race to hit targets, Twinfix is a small detective job with one swap, and Fold Two is about keeping a sliding board from filling up.
How the daily works here
The day's challenge sets the starting tiles and targets for every player. In Tally Tiles every target is built from a real path on the board, and every Twinfix pair is built around a swap that works, so there is always an answer to find. Play your ranked tries, then carry on in Free Play.
The games
- Tally Tiles
Number puzzlesMath
A five-by-five grid of digits sits under a target number. Drag a chain of neighbouring tiles that totals exactly that. Points come from the target times the tiles you used times your streak, which tops out at ×4, so long chains and a steady run of correct sums climb the board quickest.
- Twinfix
Number puzzlesMathLogic
Two small boards each show totals that don't add up, because one tile on each side is in the wrong place. Find the pair to exchange so both sets of totals come out right. Five rounds, each a little bigger, in seventy-five seconds. A wrong swap costs points, so check the sums before you tap.
- Fold Two
Number puzzlesMathSpatial
Every swipe slides the whole board one way, and two equal tiles that meet fold into a single tile worth double. Each move adds a fresh tile, so the board fills up quickly if you swipe without a plan. Keep your rows tidy and leave space open for the next fold.
Pick one if…
- You want a fast arithmetic race: Tally Tiles.
- You enjoy checking the working and finding the odd one out: Twinfix.
- You like sliding-tile puzzles: Fold Two.
Number Puzzles FAQ
Do I need to be good at maths?
No. It is adding and doubling, plus spotting patterns on the board.
Is every puzzle solvable?
Yes for Tally Tiles and Twinfix: each target or pair is built from a real answer. Fold Two is different, with no single answer to find, just a board you keep moving.
Any tips?
The Tally Tiles strategy guide explains how the streak multiplier works and how to keep it going.
